Questioning your Faith?
We would like to start with three important questions. Do
you agree/disagree with the following:
1) That the Bible is the inspired word of God?
“Take up the bible, compare the religion of the
Latter-Day Saints with it and see if it will stand the test.” (Journal
of Discourses, V16, p.46)
2) Mormonism is in conflict with historic Christianity?
“The gates of Hell have prevailed and will continue
to prevail over the Catholic Mother of Harlots, and over all her Protestant
daughters...” (Pamphlets by Orson Pratt, p.12)
3) It is truth that sets you free (John 8:32)?
“No man can disprove a truth...Why not rather every
man rise up and say, “Let God be true, let the truth remain and let me know
the truth. That is what I want - I will submit
to it; and let every false theory and principle fall, to rise up no more.”
(Journal of Discourses, V8, p.132)
It has been our experience that some of the following are
reasons for LDS to question their faith. Can you relate to any of these?
1) I don’t believe Joseph Smith is a true prophet of
God. Will this keep me out of the Celestial Kingdom?
2) If I leave the Church, will I lose my family and/or
friends?
3) Must I always agree with what the living prophet says
if he contradicts the past prophets?
4) I have Christian friends who tell me that we are
worshiping “a different Jesus”. What are they talking about?
5) I have a problem with the Book of Mormon being the “most
correct book on earth”, yet none of our main doctrines are found in it.
6) Why are all other churches wrong and we are the only
“true church”?
